Citizen's
Bank Is Funding Alpine Rose
As many
of you know, Blue Mountain Preservation Association has spent more than
two years battling the inappropriate proposed development of the Blue
Mountain in Monroe County by Richard Muller, Jr. Muller's project, Alpine
Rose Resorts, is a private motorsports country club where members will
be able to drive their high-end sports cars on an alpine-style track proposed
for the northern face of the mountain adjoining the Appalachian Trail.
The developer's own document indicate that there will be alcohol served
to the members while they are there. This facility will be open 7 days
per week, 12 months per year, weather permitting. This is one of many
duplicate motorsports country clubs that have been built and/or proposed
in North America, each with severe detrimental financial and environmental
impacts to the surrounding areas.
The devastating
effect this development will have on the mountain, the Appalachian Trail,
the surrounding environment, and the local residents is beyond belief.
- The developer
claims that there will be no noise impact, yet his own noise studies
have proven the noise will be uncontrollable and will impact the Appalachian
Trail.
- He claims
that property values for the surrounding neighbors will increase, yet
the property values have plummeted in other areas where these clubs
have been built.
- The Bog
turtle, an endangered species, has been found living in the stream at
the northern end of the proposed property, directly below the proposed
spray sewage irrigation system.
- Muller
claims that there will be no environmental impact, but he has refused
to provide adequate data to support that claim, and area environmental
specialists strongly disagree with him. Hawk Mountain, The Wildlife
Information Center, and the Sierra Club have all taken a stance against
Alpine Rose Resorts for environmental reasons.
- Muller
claims that his development will bring revenue to the area. However
Mr. Muller has repeatedly tried to build this country club in several
other areas over the past thirteen years and has yet to provide revenue
to anyone. Another motorsports country club, Gunter Ring, had to fold
because the financial institutions in that area found the club to be
too much of a financial risk to provide construction loans.
WE NEED
YOUR HELP!
We have
recently found that Citizens Bank is involved with Richard Muller, Jr.
and the Alpine Rose Resorts project. We need as many people as possible
to contact the Citizens Financial Group and protest their support of this
project. We have also provided you with the mailing address, email address
and phone number.
Please take
a few minutes to make a phone call or send a note of protest to the bank.
It will really make a difference!
Thank you!
