Tannersville Cranberry Bog

On July 27, 2002, a group of 17 intrepid Sierra Clubbers took a trip to the Poconos to see an unusual site for this area, as the ecosystem here is more like that of Canada. Everyone had a wonderful time.

So many hikers - part one So many hikers - part 2

17 hikers, including 6 children, accompanied our 2 guides

Wild cranberries on the ground, not yet ripe Bog rosemary was one of the unusual plants we found

Wild cranberries and Bog Rosemary were some of the plants we spotted.

We could feel the inside of the pitcher plant leaves Sun dews trap insects

We put our fingers inside plants to feel thier makeup and find how they react to stimulus.

Landscape included wild azaleas Still water was black from tannic acid

The quiet of the land and water gave us all a sense of peace and tranquility!
