Monroe
County Stormwater Ordinance
Help protect
Monroe County’s quality of life. Proper management of stormwater
runoff can prevent flooding, reduce erosion and pollution of our streams
and recharge our wells. But all too often, development happens without
protective policies in place, and many of these problems result.
As Monroe
County grows, the County Commissioners are considering a new ordinance
that requires sustainable management of stormwater in the Brodhead Creek
watershed. Such an ordinance emphasizes recharging water back into the
ground using streamside buffers to capture stormwater and avoid the negative
effects of runoff.
What You
Can Do
Write the
county Commissioners and ask them to take action to protect Monroe County’s
water resources. Tell them:
- Monroe
County’s water resources and quality of life need to be preserved
as development in the region increases.
- You support
adopting the stormwater ordinances that will protect water resources
in the Brodhead Creek area.
- Stormwater
should be infiltrated as much as possible to protect our families and
our health.
