Cheney in Allentown... Join the Energy Protest

Vice President Cheney will be in Allentown on April 19 for a fund-raising lunch for Representative Pat Toomey. It will be at the Clarion Hotel (formerly Hilton), 904 Hamilton St. in Allentown. CHENEY'S VISIT IS A CRITICAL OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO PUT MORE PRESSURE ON SENATOR SPECTER TO VOTE AGAINST ARCTIC DRILLING AND THE ENERGY BILL.

A protest event is being put together by the Sierra Club and the Alaska Coalition of PA. We will be protesting Cheney's support for Arctic drilling and dirty energy, as well as Toomey's votes for these (Toomey's opponent is pro-environment). We also want to throw in Enron and Cheney's secret energy task force.

We need a lot of people to make this effective! Please attend and bring a clean energy or an anti-Cheney energy plan sign. Suggestions:

• Raise CAFE Standards
• No Enron Energy Plan
• What Are Cheney's Energy Secrets?
• Oil Man Cheney, Leave the Arctic Refuge Alone

Other clever props and signs that are in good taste are also welcome.

Directions from North and South:
Take 476 (NE extension) to Allentown exit.
Go toward Allentown on Rte. 22
Exit onto 7th St.
Turn right on Linden St.
Turn left on 11th.
Go a couple of blocks to Hamilton and turn left to get up to the hotel. Hamilton is one-way going east there. There is on-street parking in the neighborhood with meters in the area of Hamilton.

Directions from East and West:
Take Rte. 22
Exit onto 7th St.
Follow directions above.

From West on Rte. 222:
Route 222 becomes Hamilton Street in Allentown. Follow it all the way to the hotel.
