2015 Member Meeting ScheduleMarch 18, 2015
With the approach of spring and its seasonal awakenings, it's time to firm up our plans for warm weather activities and discuss programming proposals for the future. Everyone is welcome to participate in this meeting, which will be followed by a segment of the film, Botany of Desire. We'll gather in Lancaster Country Day School, 725 Hamilton Road, Lancaster.
Your thoughts, concerns, or impressions about our past activities are always appreciated at Member and other meetings, as are any suggestions to explore new directions. Ensuing discussions can lead to enhanced programming for all. Parking is always available in Lancaster Country Day's parking lot.
Botany of Desire, a PBS special based on Michael Pollan's best-selling book, takes viewers on an eye-opening exploration of human relationships with the plant world--seen from the plants' point of view. Narrated by Frances McDormand, the film reveals how four familiar species--the apple, the tulip, marijuana and the potato--evolved to satisfy our yearnings for sweetness, beauty, intoxication and control. We plan to watch the segment on the apple during this meeting. For additional info about the movie, visit http://www.pbs.org/thebotanyofdesire/.
