Lancaster Group Member Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on five Wednesdays during the year in Room 111 of Lancaster Country Day School, 725 Hamilton Road, Lancaster, PA (unless otherwise noted). Members and non-members of the Sierra Club are welcome.

Presentation on Climate Issues

Wednesday, November 19, 2014 - 7 PM

All Sierrans and the public are invited to hear Jim Sandoe, a certified presenter for The Climate Reality Project (CRP), speak on the topic, "Preventing Climate Chaos: Civilization's Greatest Challenge." A slideshow, it will be held in Lancaster Country Day School, 725 Hamilton Road, Lancaster. You may park in the school's parking lot.

The CRP is involved in education and advocacy related to climate change and was established in July 2011 after the joining of two environmental groups, The Alliance for Climate Protection and The Climate Project. In his PowerPoint presentation, Sandoe will examine the correlation between severe weather and the climate system, offer possible solutions to better handle climate issues in the future, and suggest ways that individuals can get involved. Handouts will be available and a question and answer session will follow.

Sandoe, an Ephrata resident, is also the Pa. state director of climate for Organizing for Action, and is enrolled in his 4th climate class at Columbia University. Earlier, he studied at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and F&M College and graduated from Conestoga Valley High School. He retired from Bridgestone Logistics of York, where he was general manager.

2015 PB 5K Committee Meeting

The 5th Annual Polar Bear 5K Trail Run/Hike Committee continues its planning for the next race, which will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015. People interested in helping or offering input regarding this fun event are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting at "551 West" King St., Lancaster.

Fifth Annual Polar Bear 5K Trail Run/Hike

Saturday, January 17, 2015 - 10 AM

The Sierra Club - Lancaster Group invites you to run or hike in this 5K (3.1miles) trail race to show your support for the environment and specifically the plight of polar bears, the most well-known victims of global warming. Once again, this very popular and successful event will be held in Lancaster County Central Park. Additional details about the 2015 race are now available on this website.


Sierra Club - Lancaster Group Member Meeting

Wednesday, January 21, 2015 - 6:30 PM

You're invited to join us for this first Member Meeting of the new year, which will be held in Lancaster Country Day School, 725 Hamilton Road, Lancaster. We'll be welcoming new and continuing Executive Committee members, firming up plans for several winter and spring activities, and seeking ideas for future projects or events.

You may park in the school's parking lot, as usual. And remember, if you have ideas for programming or other suggestions involving the Group's activities, bring them with you and be prepared to share with us.
