Hybrids Campaign - The NYC Field Office successfully convinced the Town of North Hempstead to purchase several hybrids as part of their municipal fleet. A press conference was held on February 25th to celebrate this positive development. We hope to extend this effort to other towns on Long Island. We are also working to convince the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission to authorize the use of hybrids for taxis and corporate car services.

Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Campaign
In the face of overwhelming national outcry to protect one of the nation's last remaining pristine areas, drilling proponents will try to attach controversial Arctic drilling provisions to the upcoming Federal Budget bill . This controversial provision has nothing to do with the budget or with generating revenues for America . Oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge would ruin one of America 's last unspoiled wild places for what government experts at U.S. Geological Survey say is only a few months' worth of oil . We cannot drill our way to energy independence, but we can embrace responsible measures and real, 21 st Century energy solutions that make cars go farther on a gallon of gas, promote conservation, invest in clean renewable energy, and protect our natural heritage… So, what can you do?
