All participants on Sierra Club outings are required to sign a standard liability waiver. If you would like to read the liability waiver before you chose to participate on an outing, please go to individual liability waiver. Outing leaders, please download, print out, and have all participants sign the sign-in waiver sheet. We also suggest you print out and bring extra copies of the individual liability waiver sheets. The individual liability waiver covers all events, so once an individual has signed this waiver, they do not need to sign it again for other outings.

Moshannon Wilderness Hike
1:00 PM

In conjunction with their poorly-conisdered plans to permit the construction of eastern America's largest landfill along Moshannon Creek and at the doorstep of the Pennsylvania Wilds region, Rush Township supervisors (Centre County) have now also proposed the construction of a new highway from I-80 to the nearly-defunct Mid State Regional Airport adjacent to Black Moshannon State Park. A map that the supervisors presented at a recent township meeting conveniently deleted the state park as if it does not exist. The new road would also bisect large parcels of public lands in Moshannon State Forest. The grassroots organization People Protecting Communities will lead a hike through the pristine natural areas endangered by the new highway proposal. Total distance will be about 6 miles; in case of rain the trip will be postponed to October 28. Meet at the beach parking lot in Black Moshannon State Park at 1:00 PM. For more information, contact Mary Ann Williams at (814)342-6296.
